BMTS Technology to close plant in Blaichach, Germany

BMTS Technology GmbH & Co. KG plans to close the component plant in Blaichach (Germany) by the end of 2021. The existing production capacities shall be successively transferred to the other plants worldwide.

Through this measure, the company aims to strengthens its global structure. At the same time BMTS Technology is reacting to the increased competitive environment and the changing sales markets in the automotive industry. The relocation that has now been decided is a further step towards a sustainable corporate structure and increased competitiveness.

In the coming weeks, BMTS Technology will start negotiations with the employee representatives. The aim is a socially acceptable model for the closure of the site. "We are aware of our responsibility and of the burden for our employees that will accompany the plant closure. We therefore want to implement the necessary measures in close coordination and after detailed planning with the works council", said Jörg Spath-Dreyer, head of human resources.

Global expansion

Since two years BMTS Technology has been in a fundamental transformation to an internationally established manufacturer of exhaust gas turbochargers: The company was founded in 2008 under the name Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems GmbH & Co. KG as a joint venture of Robert Bosch GmbH and MAHLE GmbH. In March 2018 the company was sold and since then it has been operating under the name BMTS Technology. The new owner, FountainVest, has expanded the company as a global automotive supplier, most recently with new locations in Ramos Arizpe (Mexico), Novi Sad (Serbia), and Jinan (China).
