Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems – joint development via the joint venture

Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems is a young company, owned jointly by Robert Bosch GmbH and MAHLE GmbH with a share of 50 percent each. The company was founded because of repeated demands from the automotive industry for a strong European partner in the area of turbocharging.

Today's combustion engines are required to achieve reductions in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions while maintaining or optimizing performance and ensuring attractive systems costs. Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems, the joint venture established in 2008 by Robert Bosch GmbH and MAHLE GmbH, supplies the product needed to fulfill these requirements: the exhaust gas turbocharger. Both parent companies are well-established, globally active development partners and systems suppliers to various vehicle manufacturers. 

Material know-how

Thanks to MAHLE, Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems offers many years of experience in the development and production of highly temperature-resistant turbocharger components.  Materials for applications at extreme temperatures and in corrosive environments constitute a unique knowledge base. 

System know-how

Bosch completes the systems expertise of Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems with its extensive expertise in the areas of fuel injection technology for gasoline and diesel engines as well as engine controls. 

Precision manufacturing

Through the two parent companies, Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems has extensive knowledge in manufacturing, in the areas of casting and machining. Precision in manufacturing, down to the micrometer range, is part of the expertise for extremely precise rotor and impeller manufacturing, with minimal original out-of-balance values that have been achieved never before. The upcoming generation of turbochargers will benefit in particular from product experience in pistons, valve train components, and injection systems. The subsidiaries MAHLE Powertrain and Bosch Engineering additionally complement the overall understanding of the combustion engine, with their experience in development, design, and application of turbocharged engines.
